I think I am going to start writing at throughout the month because so many things go through my mind or great things/experience happen that by the time we reach the end of the month I have forgotten. I can also just concentrate on only editing or adding the photos at the end of the month. So, having the Memorial at home was very special. I did post photos already in the week by week posts, but I may add some iPhone photos later too. It was quite the experience making our own bread. I have never baked it, but it was easy enough following the recipe online.
My nails; I have been so good about not biting them, especially because I am far more aware of not putting my hands in my mouth or around my face ๐ I might be investing in a couple more nail polishes besides just having Red, which is my fave nail color.
Cocktails!! The killer Bee cocktail is my new FAVE drink. Where had it been all my life! I love rimmed cocktails with Tajin or salt and this one has Mezcal and a generous amount of lemon, so it.is.AMAZING!! We uploaded the video on IG tv in you want to check it out and make it for yourself if you are also a Mezcal fan like I am.
Watercoloring has been my de-stresser during these weeks. I started keeping an illustrated journal! I LOVE doing small illustrations and adding quick notes or detailing a small memorable events or daily activities. I don’t journal everyday, but when some happy thought comes to mind or I feel all of a sudden grateful for something, I will go and outline what comes to mind in pencil and go back to it later to watercolor it later if I can’t at the moment. I’ve enjoyed it a lot. The courses from Domestika have helped my drawing and a couple YouTube girls that I subscribe to.
As far as cooking goes, just this month alone I have learned how to make Posole rojo de puerco, Huevos ahogados, Salsa de chile de arbol en aceite, and a better version of a Salsa de molcajete (all I needed to do was REALLY roast the serrano chiles until they are super soft, create a paste on the mortar with a small raw garlic and salt in order to create a nice base for the rest of the ingredients) We were getting the SunBasket with the ingredients to make meals, but I decided to cancel it so that I could learn and try to make new meals and so far so good. However, I do have to remember to make our salads or else .. haha!
Look at Downey sleep. I hope Downey doesn’t suffer from some sort of separation anxiety once we go back to our normal schedule and he is home alone again. He HAS been more needy, constantly wanting to be fed! sheesh! He will move from one place to another and during meeting for the most part he behaves, and just sleeps. The funny thing is the walking. We were taking him out for a walk twice a day, but we noticed that it would give him a burst of energy in the evenings and couldn’t sit still, so now we walk him once a day and towards the end of the day we will just let him hang outside and it’s been much better now.
Well, our shelter in place got extended through the month of May, so we shall see how it goes. I just have to make it a point to be outdoors, walk, and overall exercise. These days are definitely not normal, so I guess we all have to make a bigger effort to keep a somewhat normal routine to feel a little more “normal”. Until next month!
