March 2020 April 14, 2020 Here we are in April now and I am SOOOO happy that I am finally able to post as easy as I used to when I had my desktop. I transferred Lightroom and updated Blogstopm, which helps me batch process photos and minimize the size so they don’t take up too much space. I just hope I don’t continue getting that “disk ovarage” email from Cpanel, so annoying since I am NOT techie enough to fix it. Anyway, being able to collage my iPhone pics is so nice. I used to post monthly recaps before, and I hope to do that again. March 17 was the start of Shelter in Place here in the Bay Area and it took a bit for us to get used to it, I mean, not that were used to is, but we’ve manage to get into a nice, healthy routine so far. Our meetings were started through Zoom and thankfully we have been also been able to use it for “Happy hours”, movies, games, everything! I don’t think I have ever felt SO connected. Among the bad, there is always the good, for sure. In the midst of all this we have not felt isolated or lacking entertainment. We do however, want things to go back if not completely normal, at least to that “new normal” that everyone keeps talking about. Going to work sick or meetings will no longer be an option, we just have to stay home for the sake of our friends and family, even if it’s just a “little cold”, those are still contagious too :/. Interesting how at the beginning of the month we had several get-togethers and even managed to squeeze a Napa trip the first week of the month. Such good times, not knowing that we would be at home for the rest of the month, including April. Glad we kept our membership with Flora Springs Winery We were able to spend a nice afternoon on their upper patio and sip on some awesome wine. Us, enjoying the outdoors. This was literally like three or four days before Shelter in Place went into effect. Funny to look back at photos in such close proximity with our friends during these days stuck at home. Can’t wait to see and eventually hug everyone again. I hope Downey does not develop separation anxiety once we go back to work. He has been happy having us around, but not looking forward do his daily walks.. haha! He chills mostly during the day, but every time I go into the kitchen, it’s as if I inviting over waiting for some sort of crumb to fall down from the ‘heavens” 🙂Francis, as you can see, pretty much brought the entire office with him.. haha. I am glad both screens fit in that one small desk we keep in the room I know a lot of people have not been working, so we are thankful that for the most part I’ve been able to work form home and Francis too. It has certainly been entertaining seeing how all the friends have little by little gotten used to Zoom. It’s nice to see everyone and enjoy meetings with the ability to comment. This month Francis will even be able to give the public talk for his parents congregation in Guatemala! I’m exited to everyone from that congregation and be part of the meeting virtualy 🙂 I have been cooking up a storm! Cooking is not one of favorite things to do, however, I do enjoy cooking. We’ve tried new dishes and I am going to make an effort to continue cooking more from home once the quarantine is lifted. I used to go about THREE and sometimes FOUR times to the grocery store during the week, but I don’t see why I should not keep it to once a week from now on. Oh! and drinks! I think this has been one of the most fun things we’ve done so far.. haha! I’ve been recording Francis preparing some classic cocktails on Friday’s. Little by little, we’ve had friends join us during the recording and it has been hilarious! Definitely, something we will remember for sure! That first weekend of Shelter in Place, a lot of the rules weren’t entirely clear, so we drove to the beach in Half Moon Bay, making sure to keep our distance from other people, not knowing that this would be banned the week after. Many people were not obeying the social distancing during these beach/park outings, so beaches and parks were closed. Downey had a blast! I’m glad we had at least this ONE day of beach day. After that, we’ve kept to walking around the neighborhood and biking nearby as well. I don’t think I have ever been so thankful for having a comfortable and pretty backyard where to relax and get some fresh air without having the need to be out, OUT.We shall see what April brings. I am trying to not watch much news, but according to what I hear it’s going to be a while before we are able to gather freely. But, eventually, things will get better.
