Weddings and photography….

August 9, 2011

Love this camera, cutest little thing!

….are in fact a lovely combination.  It had been over 8 years since I last photographed a wedding from start to finish with one camera and one lens.  Last time I did, I was on film, so I had to carry rolls and rolls of film.
This time around…

…I learned that I either need a shootsac or the fabulous Kelly Bag for a quick lens change or a good friend that can serve as an assistant :).
I learned to not be so self conscious and to just get out there and get the best shots that I can..wedding are a ONE TIME deal here!
I learned that before getting expensive lenses I need to master exposure and other technicalities. ( I cannot be depending on editing software too much)
I learned that after mastering “I learned” number 3, a 70-200 lens would REALLY come in handy HA! :D… moving back and forth with a 50mm lens REALLY gave me a wild workout!  I woke up the next morning with very sore legs.. ouch!
I learned a little bit about shooting flash on manual… soooo cool!!

During this time I also got a chance to play with a 24mm lens that my awesome brother let me borrow (yeah, I did have to beg for it).  Great for small spaces and much much more that I have yet to discover.  Until then. it’s just me and my 50mm lens 🙂
